DOB Extends Deadline for Special Inspector Certification
The DOB has extended the deadline for Special Inspectors to obtain all required certifications to conduct site inspections from July 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009.
This extension comes on the heels of the transition to the 2008 Building Code, and the reality that there were simply not enough certified Inspectors prepared for the vast number of pending inspections.
Anticipating that an inspection bottle-neck could possibly bring many jobs to a standstill, the DOB has extended the deadline by six months.
Hopefully, this grace period will give inspectors the chance to better understand the new regulations, and complete the required compliance training.
