LAA Filing Goes Virtual
The DOB recently held a workshop specifically for Limited Alteration eFilings, and was conducted in anticipation of the September 26 expansion of the eFiling system.
After the milestone, licensed master plumbers, licensed fire suppression contractors and licensed oil burner installers will be able to obtain LAA permits for Limited Standpipe, Sprinkler and Plumbing work, all without actually setting foot in the DOB.
A few other items of importance were covered:
1. Asbestos forms are no longer required for LAA filings.
2. The new fees for LAA fall under alteration Type 3.
3. Only licensed and registered individuals can use the eFiling system for LAA filings.
4. Registration is straightforward, although the individual must provide a valid credit card. This card does NOT need to match up to the individual, so corporate cards will work.
All of these changes will be recognized in an updated LAA form, which will make its debut in late September. For a preview of the new LAA form, please click here.
