New Requirements for Sprinkler Filings
Recently, we have started seeing objections from DOB examiners regarding sprinklers. For the first time, the examiners are requiring proof of all sprinkler work being dually filed with the DOB and FDNY.
Typically, sprinkler filings were straightforward – with only new installations requiring joint filings with DOB and FDNY. These new objections indicate that all sprinkler work – including removals, replacing and relocating – will need to be filed with the FDNY along with the DOB.
It’s a safe bet to consider the need to file with both DOB and FDNY for all sprinkler work going forward, and build this requirement into your project timeline and budget.
