New Zoning for Bicycles Parking
While most of the industry’s attention has been focused on the transition to the New Building Code, the City Council recently adopted the Bicycle Parking Text Amendment.
This amendment to the Zoning Resolution requires indoor, secure, long-term bicycle parking in new multi-family residential, community facility, and commercial buildings. This amendment provides for bicycle parking and storage both at home and in the workplace, with standards that serve both the needs of cyclists and developers.
This amendment fits in line with the Mayor’s PlaNYC 2030 proposal – and should help reduce congestion, health issues and quality of life among New York City residents and workers.
