NYC DCA Releases Home Improvement Guide For Consumers
The Department of Consumer Affairs has published a home improvement guide designed to explain in simple terms the process and procedures for consumers to work with licensed contractors.
The guide provides clear definitions of what a contractor is, their responsibilities and licensing requirements. The guide explains very clearly how a consumer should work with a contractor, specifically how they may protect themselves and control the quality of any project. Most interestingly, the guide shows the connection between licensing fees and a consumer Trust Fund established to provide restitution for poor work.
Anyone intending to start a renovation project should spend the time to read this guide. For a copy, click here.
