Panel Program Brings Site Information To the Public

A new DOB program intends to improve the overall street and sidewalk experience and provide important construction information to the public. The Construction Information Panel Pilot Program consolidates permit postings and contractor signage into a simple, recognizable informational panel. The panel will include complete project details, including a rendering of the building going up on the site.

Under the program, a building informational panel would go on each frontage of the construction fence. The Alt1 permit would be affixed to the panel, and would be the only permit posted on the fence. All existing signage mandated by the DOB would be completely removed.

While the DOB will provide the specs for the information panel, each site must prepare the signage on their own. The cost should run in the neighborhood of $50.

To participate in the Construction Information Panel Pilot Program, and for more information, please send an email request to the program.

The program has more than aesthetic benefits. Making all building related information readily available and accessible removes the issue of unnecessary violations for expired permits as well as for any permits not posted.
