urbancanvas Design Competition Launches
The DOB has announced a new competition for artists and designers – to beautify the construction fences, sidewalk sheds and supporting scaffolding throughout the City.
While construction remains an important part of everyday City life, job site aesthetics remain a low priority. With this competition, the City hopes to rethink the construction structures throughout City as blank canvases, ready for inspiration.
Supported by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, this competition welcomes the input of artists and designers from around the country. A jury of important artists, designers and civic leaders will evaluate the submissions – including Polly Apfelbaum, Dan Brodsky, Ingacio Ciocchini, Carl Galioto, Sagi Haviv, Jennifer McGregor, Eddie Torres, Kate Levin and the DOB’s own Robert Limandri.
Interested participants may register online by clicking here – the registration will stay open until July 19, 2010. Participants may submit their ideas and proposals through July 28, 2010.
